VIAJANDO CON “COJA”

Desde las primeras ediciones la Revista Digital Arrierías, arrierias.com, ha mencionado la labor de Jaime Giraldo, alias “Coja” y su empresa de turismo “Coja Tours”. La razón es su posicionamiento como una empresa pionera del turismo en Caicedonia, que ha venido evolucionando cada día más y más hasta el punto de ofrecer viajes turísticos a innumerables destinos, llevando variedad de turistas nacionales y extranjeros, caracterizados, cada uno de sus viajes, por el cumplimiento, satisfacción al cliente y el mejor ambiente de amistad entre los viajeros.

Los sitios para visitar con Coja están a lo largo y ancho del país: las costas, los Santanderes, los llanos, Boyacá, Amazonas, Eje Cafetero, las tres Guajiras, Caño Cristales y recorriendo los pueblos de Antioquia.

Sus inicios fueron viajes con personas de Caicedonia, pero se ha ido expandiendo hasta formar grupos de turistas extranjeros que permanentemente solicitan los servicios.

Uno de los lugares más apreciados por turistas es Caño Cristales, una belleza natural considerada como el río más hermoso del mundo. Sus afluentes, rápidos y cascadas hacen un recorrido por 100 km y forman parte del parque nacional de la Serranía de la Macarena en el departamento del Meta.

Los Andes, cadena montañosa, se encuentran en ese parque conjuntamente con el bosque amazónico y las planicies de los llanos orientales. La observación de vida salvaje, escalar las formaciones rocosas y navegar en los rápidos que ofrecen los ríos, es un conjunto de actividades propias de este lugar.

No todo el año Caño Cristales nos muestra su esplendor de colores, en el primer semestre es un río normal como cualquier otro, pero durante los meses de junio y noviembre sus aguas se colorean con cinco matices: rojo, púrpura, verde, azul y amarillo, de ahí el nombre de “río de los cinco colores”, lo que le confiere ser el río más hermoso del mundo.

Los colores se deben a la presencia de una planta acuática “Macarenia Clavigera” que cuando reciben los rayos del sol le confieren al agua la gama de colores tan característica solo en esta época del año.

Las visitas a caño cristales se realizan con “Coja” en la época cuando se puede apreciar en toda su magnitud el fenómeno de los colores del agua.

Otro ejemplo de paseo organizado por Jaime Giraldo es: Puebliando por Antioquia, un viaje relajante que permite conocer muchos pueblos típicos de esta región.

Son siete días conociendo y caminando por los lugares que fueron la casa y lugares de partida de nuestros ancestros.

El viaje de este año por los diferentes pueblos antioqueños se torna interesante porque los viajeros recibirán una completa información del pueblo y de sus familiares que hace muchos años emprendieron un largo y difícil camino desde Antioquia hasta nuestras tierras en un épico viaje llamado colonización.

TRAVELLING WITH “COJA”

Since its first editions, the digital magazine Arrierías has featured the work of Jaime Giraldo, also known as “Coja”, and his travel company, Coja Tours. It was the first touring company in Caicedonia to offer a variety of tours to countless destinations, attracting tourists from Colombia and abroad. The defining characteristics of every tour are reliability, customer satisfaction and a friendly atmosphere amongst travellers.

The destinations to be explored with Coja traverse the breadth and length of the nation, encompassing the coastal regions, the Santander region, the plains, the Boyacá region, the Colombian Amazon, the Coffee Region, the three Guajiras, Caño Cristales and the charming towns of Antioquia.

Initially, the company organised trips for locals from Caicedonia, but it has since expanded to include foreign tourist groups.

Caño Cristales, one of the most popular places among tourists, is considered to be the most beautiful river in the world and a natural wonder. Stretching for 100 km, its tributaries, rapids and waterfalls form part of the Serranía de la Macarena National Park in Colombia’s Meta department.

This park is home to the Andes mountain range, the Amazon rainforest and the plains of the eastern Llanos. Activities typical of this area include wildlife spotting, climbing rock formations and riding the river rapids.

Caño Cristales does not display its full range of colours all year round. In the first half of the year, it is like any other river. However, during the months of June and November, its waters take on five hues: red, purple, green, blue and yellow. This is why it is known as the “five-coloured river”, and why it is considered to be the most beautiful river in the world.

The colours are caused by an aquatic plant “Macarenia clavigera”, which gives the water its distinctive range of colours when exposed to sunlight.

Coja organises visits to Caño Cristales at the time of year when the colours of the water can be seen at their most spectacular.

An additional excursion is “Puebliando por Antioquia”, a relaxing journey that allows you to discover many of the region’s traditional villages.

The seven-day tour explores places that were once home to our ancestors. This year is set to be a fascinating one for travellers, as they will have the opportunity to discover the unique towns and the families of those who embarked on an epic journey many years ago, known as the Colonisation.
